+True, but how many people are subscribe to both? I'd guess
+twice as many now on adsl.
+Then the question is. I'd like my question answer, more people
+means more chance of it being answered.
+That said probably a lot of the people who answer questions
+are subscribed to nz-broadband.
I am a T/S cable modem user in CHCH and have been subscribed to the
broadband list (but not ADSL) for around 5 months. I have now subscribed
to the ADSL list in case I miss out on something useful.
Perhaps you can ask your original question re: T/S net in CHCH here? I
am interested.
I was going to ask a question re: multicast IGMP packets I'm getting
every 3 minutes on my cable connection. I wanted to do some research on
RFC1112 first, but perhaps I'll ask it anyway.
Every 3 minutes I get a multicast IGMP packet. The destination is the
'all-hosts' group 224.0.0.1 and the source is always the private class C
address: 192.168.100.1, which is not used on my internal network. Anyone
know if T/S routers are using IP multicasting for a valid purpose
(perhaps they are generated by the cable modem itself?) Currently, my
iptable based firewall rules drop the packets.
cheers
