Craig, thanks for the response . Do you run the nzdsl web site you
referenced in your post?

+Its just one of their routers saying "Hey Join with me" in
+Multicast Language.

Yep, I had worked out that much after reading RFC1112 and have since
done a bit more reading about IP multicast applications.

+You might want to join it and see what is
+there, You never know ,you might find something interesting.

I might if I knew there was something useful or interesting being
broadcast on the cable. I would like to find out a bit more about what
multicast applications are available before I invest the effort to
figure out how to properly relay the multicast packets through my linux
firewall (without opening up security holes).

+Run something like IP/Tv from Cisco. There is a huge download
+from http://www.nzdsl.co.nz in the software/other section (Its
+quite large).

Is there any documentation around on what that does? Since it looks like
a windoze exe, I would need to get a multicast relay working to use it.

+But as no one is broadcasting it on their internal network (its not
+connected to the real +Multicast network). you prob won't see anything

Do you mean the multicast traffic is completely internal to the
Telstra/Saturn network and isn't routed to 'the multicast internet' (or
MBONE as I just discovered it's called)?

Is it worth asking Paradise what multicast services are available?
