Welcome to NZ mate.

Telecom NZ has a monopoly here for now and the tight fisted management of
Telecom give nothing away. Depending on ISP you can get up to 15Gb/month on
Jetstart but the 5 or 6 Jetstream options are max'd out at 2Gb unless you
use the Business options then you need to be earning a Bill Gates type
salary to pay for it.

In Wellington you probably have the option of cable though, give Saturn a
call or check Paradise.net.nz links on www.clear.net.nz

High Speed options here are Walker Wireless, Ihug's Satellite, Saturn's
Cable or ADSL which the ISP's nationwide onsell Telecoms expensive service.

Subject: NZ flat rate options?

Hello,

I've just arrived in country, apologies if I'm missing something
obvious. This feels like a FAQ but I don't see any links for same on the
homepage. Anyway, I'm located in the Northern Wellington suburbs
(Paremata) and am having trouble finding a flat-rate broadband solution.
Telecom seems hell bent on limiting traffic to about 2 gigs and gouging
thereafter, and most everybody else's ADSL options seem tied to Telecom.
In one day of usage I've already used 30% of my monthly allotment; at
this rate I'll owe Telecom about $1500 by the end of the month. I do note
Telstra has an unlimited 256k option, but 256k is a bit on the slow side.
Are there any good solutions for unlimited data, high speed
(significantly more than 256k), and no requirements for blood of the
firstborn son?

This is all rather a shock to me, as in San Francisco I had 256k/
1500k ADSL, unlimited usage, with 5 static IPs for $80/mo.
